Housekeeping

Special washbag

Good housekeeping is not my usual area of MN but I'm hoping someone here can assist. DPs mum insists that he takes his work trousers over to her house to wash them as she has a special washbag for them to go in. It would be so much easier if we could just buy one of these bags and wash the bloody trousers at home. But she won't tell us what we need to get, like it's a big special secret.

Any idea what this washbag thing might be?

Btw his work trousers are nothing special just standard m&s ones, label says wash at 40.

I presume she means this type of thing:

My first thought was - another man whose mum still does his washing...

your dp needs to tell his mum he can wash his own trousers perfectly well. And just chuck his trousers in the machine, you don't need a bag

Yeah I know, it sounds awful. It's only this one item though, which is why it's so daft. It's like she wants to have this hold over him by washing his trousers, very odd! He does far more than his fair share around the house, all the cooking etc so it's not as though he's useless or anything. I've ordered the washbag, although I'm convinced they can probably go straight in the machine.

Gosh, I feel like there must be more to this. Can you please come back and let us know what happens when she finds out you've got a special washbag too? Grin

I guess it's more than the 'washbag'!

Mum needs to feel useful.........

Maybe you could get her to do all your washing (and ironing)?

Maybe you could help her feel useful by letting her do all your ironing every week? I know you would MUCH rather do it yourself but it would make her so happy. I am happy to donate my ironing to her too if that helps.

The trousers went in a normal wash last night, nothing terrible happened! She probably would do the ironing if we asked, I daren't tell her we have a cleaner or she'll offer to do it instead. I don't do any ironing either. DP does his own shirts and nothing else gets ironed.

Last time she came round I was putting washing out on the line and she tried to grab it off me and do it for me. I don't want any other woman touching my smalls.
