I've got this which works quite well:

Still doesn't wash my clothes for me though!

I have four large net washing bags that are hung on hooks on the inside of the under stairs cupboard (no room in utility). One for whites, lights, brights and darks. Laundry gets sorted straight into these and I put a load on whenever there is enough in each bag. It works really well for us!

I just do with one quite small laundry basket, because when it is full I HAVE to do the washing. Otherwise I'd just let it build up for aaages and then wonder why we have no clothes... grin

I had a laundry sorter basket thing but dh was worse than the DC at putting clothes in the right section. so I bought a plastic one that was in the sainsburys sale and moved the sorter one into the utility room where I can sort the clothes.

DCs each have a small one in their rooms, another small one in our room and yet another in the futility room. I have been known to empty in onto the floor, pick out the less manky bits and then scoop what's left into the machine.

I generally do lights and darks at 30 and lights/white at 40 and towels/underwear at 60.

One of DC's light chores in return for pocket money is to bring their dirties down when requested.

I have four of those plastic 'trug' things - one for whites, lights, darks and towels.

Oh what a useful thread. Thankyou OP thanks

I've got a plastic one for the dc's but could really do with a nice, not terribly ugly thing for the big bedroom. I've looked everywhere I can think of and it's all really weak wickery type things (dunelm) with bad hinges and saggy lids, or it's plastic blue or green things which just look horrid.

It needs to be fairly slim, not a wide, low basket thing iyswim
Any recommendations gratefully received.

I got two from homebase and still have to sort it.

I like the sectioned idea but I dont have the space for this

We have the triple laundry basket. Each section has a giant net bag hanging inside it which gets carried to the washing machine once it's full.

Above the washing machine and tumble dryer is a long shelf with six plastic baskets on it, one for each person. As the clean stuff comes out of the tumble dryer it gets folded into the correct basket. When the baskets are full, everyone takes them upstairs and puts their own clean laundry away.

Is it only me who has a collection of baskets in my quest to find the perfect one?

I have a sorter which is in my dd's bedroom. I have another one which has all the children's hangers in them. Then I have a further 2 baskets to take washing to the machine (I had 3 but one broke)

ThreeBeeOneGee Mon 21-Jan-13 08:18:25

Sorry, forgot to say that the triple thing for dirty laundry lives in the family bathroom, which is very close to the children's bedrooms.

Try this one

John Lewis has a good triple sorter one which I bought recently. Could do with a small separate basket for delicates though.

Ds1 also has one in his room for dcs' laundry and a big woven basket with lid for bedding and towels.

I have 2 plastic baskets for carting it all around.

Am loving the idea of 5 baskets to sort it into too!

MrsBucketxx Mon 21-Jan-13 08:51:28

Heres mine

Ambi Mon 21-Jan-13 09:01:33

I have 3 laundry baskets in our room. All dirty washing goes in. Darks, lights and whites when one gets full it goes to the wash. I love this system and would never go back to one hamper.
