Why do all my colours fade?

Shybairns · 13/11/2012 17:05

I use either Fairy non-bio or Ariel bio, depending on what I'm washing. I was at 40 degrees unless its bed linnen, towels, pants in which case its 60 deg.

Why why do the colours fade? It happens with M&S, Tesco, Jules, Monsoon. Clothes from anywhere.

Can anyone enlighten me please?

Turn everything inside out, use short wash cycle/quick wash and halve the amount of powder recommended on the box.

Powders generally contain bleaches for brighter whites.

Liquids and "for colours" powders don't

  • colour detergent
  • don't hang up the dark stuff in the sun
  • turn inside out
  • wash at lower temps if possible

Have you ever heard of washing powder for colours? It has been around since the 1980s. Wash everything inside out and if you are going to hang the laundry outside then do not leave in direct sunlight for too long, if at all.

My bedlinen faded terribly with fairy non bio, it literally bleached it.

I've used really cheap bio powders since then, aldi, smart price and it doesnt seem to happen now.

Anything "nice" gets cleaned in Alur from homebargains.
