How often do you clean your carpets?

Bought a Bissell carpet cleaner yesterday (so happy Grin. Needless to say I cleaned all carpets immediately. The water that came back up was absolutely disgusting Blush looked like oxtail soup! So now I am wondering how often I should be doing it? This cleaner is brilliant by the way, all carpets dry within an hour or two.

the first time you use a carpet washer it is stunning. Mud, grit, cigarette ends, dead spiders, bogies, half-bricks...

Chances are if you give it another clean today the water come off it clean.

I doubt that, apart from the hall, and carpets near the back door/garden door, it will need doing even once a year. YYY to shoes off.

You might like to reconsider the benefits of big doormats that you can hose down....

I have my own carpet cleaner. I do the hallway and living room rugs every 4 months. All other carpets every year.

it depends on how often you step on it, how many people you share accommodation with and so on. Here is more www.cleanerconfessions.com/carpets/top-tips-on-how-often-carpets-should-be-cleaned-4255/ Thanks I hope it covers it all, as this is the site I consult quite often.

I've also got a bissell, it's my second one, we upgraded on the previous model which we had for a while and got alot of use from especially when my ds who has sn decided to use the lounge carpet as a toilet. I clean the high traffic areas about every 3 month's and usually clean them as soon as the dc have gone to school, so by the time they come home the carpets are dry. I don't do every carpet just those that look like they need a clean.

I try to do mine around twice a year, although was told by carpet shop that is too often as it ruins the pile of the carpet.

Front room carpet probably three times a month.

Elsewhere we only have carpets in bedrooms and on stairs/landing. That only gets done if there is a spill.

We've only got one proper carpet and it's so thin and rubbish that our scary carpet washer would probably eat it alive.

Only used the thing once in our old house and it sounded like WW3 had kicked off. I hate it. It's a Vax.

So I don't think I will bother with it again.
