Boring playmobil storage question

So should it be all just thrown randomly into boxes or sorted into sets?

Started trying to sort it out but am left with a big mess of foliage/tops of heads/those funny little playmobil tools etc. Also, is it acceptable to just throw away all the flowers?

What does everyone else do with it all?

A couple of the more unusual sets (eg. Christmas nativity sets and the Halloween figures which are just making an appearance on my mantelpiece) I keep separately; everything else goes into huge drawers underneath the bed and the bigger plastic houses go on a shelf.

I've got it all thrown into one big underbed storage box.

dd's bedroom has a really brilliant cupboard in it with floor to ceiling shelves. On bottom (on floor) is playmobil school
On shelf above is playmobil hospital with a plasstic crate of all teh other stuff (and we have a lot!) in it. It all just gets jumbled up. One of the aircrew from the airport set was teaching a class in the school last night. They got to school in the camper van - or at least some of them did. The rest went in teh cargo ship! (dd is 9 by teh way - although it's meant for 4+ I reckon playmobil only comes into it's own once they are older)

ooh, haggis, how lovely for the school to be hosting local employers! (or was he on the new teacher training scheme?) Grin

we have the biggest house in the world teetering on a top shelf where an adult has to get it down for playing, and everything else (including airport, cargo shed, two enormous planes and a plethora of flowers everything else) in giant plastic crates.

playmobil is brilliant, but storage defiant.

and the flowers go up the hoover.

all the time.

but you must never, ever, throw them away.

ever.

We have IKEA Trofast unit next a 2*2 IKEA Expedit unit. The white Trofast one has a flat top so the hospital and house can sit on top. Then there are 6 small trays, like the sort we had at school but smaller, on the top rails and 3 deeper boxes on the bottom rails. When sorted properly people are in one tray, furniture in another, emergency services stuff in another etc and then in the deeper drawers vehicles etc. This order lasts a few weeks before it all gets jumbled together then another few weeks before I can be bothered sitting down with them to sort it out again : )

In the Expedit unit there is the fire station in one cube, the campervan and fire engine in another etc etc.

I have found that since there is some order to the Playmobil and it is not all dumped in a large box they are playing with it more.

Fresh, I love that you sort it. I long to sort ours but confess that it's all bunged together in a box!

tassisssss, ask me again in the New Year and you will get a different answer. DC4 is due in December and I have a feeling sorting Playmobil is going to be the last thing on my mind for quite a while after that : )

Not quite playmobil but ds has alot of drawers in his room dedicated to toys. I try and keep everything organised as i find he plays with them more! Ie. batman in one drawer, cars in another etc.
It is a pain though and every now and then i have to go in there and sort it all out.
Playmobil stage is coming up for us, so im hoping i can do the same with that! I also use shoe boxes covered in that sticky paper you can buy Hmm got piles of them on shelves. Cheap and tidy!

Ive just read that back and it sounds like im a super organised person! Im not!!! The reason i try and keep thing sorted in ds bedroom is that it gets played with more often and moneys worth out of things!!
I can assure you the rest of my house is the opposite!! Blush
