Miele or Neff oven - put off by Miele having only 1 shelf

Can't decide which oven to go for. Looking at getting a pyrolitic Miele or Neff oven. Drawn to the Miele because everyone goes on about how good they are but I'm put off by the oven only coming with one shelf. However, my current oven only has one shelf and that hasn't been too much of an issue. Also, where do you put the other shelf when you need to put something big in the oven? Also like the fact that the Neff oven has a sliding door. What are your views? TIA

The best oven I ever had was a Neff.

I have all Neff and love it.....building new house at the mo.. kitchen designer thinks all should be Miele, Im not convinced...lots more expensive and can't see too much difference...

Thanks Chrissa and bounty. Went into John Lewis again today and discovered that the Neff pyrolitic doesn't have a slide away door. The Miele also has a larger oven capacity so it's looking like we'll go for that one.

I've recently got a Miele - it replaces an ancient old brown AEG double oven and I have to say I'm mourning the loss of my AEG - it heated up really quickly, had no fancy functions but did the job much better...the Miele never gets hot enough - I've had the engineer out to check it and apparently it's fine. Had a Neff about 6 years ago and it was fine, no complaints but then it didn't work as hard as my old AEG.

Still the Miele does look beautiful and the single shelf thing can be overcome by ordering another or using the baking sheet supplied.

I don't have a Miele or a Neff but I bought a Samsung oven recently that only had one shelf. The actual Samsung shelf was £31 so I bought this and it is fab and works a treat..

Thanks Gotarty and dexter. Sorry to hear about your problems with the Miele. Does seem as if only having 1 shelf shouldn't be a deal breaker. Everything seems to be pointing to the Miele but I get the feeling from the reams of things I have been reading that the Neff might produce better results but not sure if I have imagined it as getting quite tired now... Thanks again everyone.

Great British Bake Off used Neff ovens as were all the ovens at a Cookery School I went to.

Can't remember if its neff or miele or both but they have test kitchens that you can go and have a demo or maybe even use it yourself. Think they are maybe Oxford or Aylesbury or Milton Keynes area. Might be worth googling or asking the suppliers and trying for yourself...

Both sound good to me - I have a stoves one that was in when we moved here and it's horrible.

Just noticed that this
OP is over two years old! We deliberated over Neff and Miele and decided on Miele as the oven capacity was bigger (76l v about 65). I would have been drawn to Neff if their slide a away door was pyro but that was a deal breaker. I have had three Neff ovens over the years in different houses. Our middle one failed in year four but I would expect them to last longer. Extra basic wire shelves for Miele ovens are about £45, I think.
