toddler girl bedroom - inspire me please

DD's bedroom ought to be decorated. I'm hoping to ask for bits of it for Christmas, as that's the kind of thing my family like to buy. She's just 2 and I might take the side of her cot bed by then. Even if I don't, she's starting to reject her grobags and is currently sleeping with just her thin baby blanket, so she is certainly in need of either an duvet or sheets and a bedspread.

So, I need some inspiration of what to do please. The room already has cream roller blind and curtains, a white cupboard/ book case and a white wardrobe. The cot bed is pine - doesn't 'match' but will have to do. (TTC but potential new baby's room is tiny and will need a small cot!). There's a corner sofa bed that will stay as it's the only room big enough for it - DD gives up her room for the rare guests we have! She has a nice pink ikea rug, with hearts and circles on. I'd really like this to be the only pink... Walls are currently a yucky yellowing beige (from before we moved in). Two walls are textured paper that I'll paint over (I'll be doing most of this on my own, so as easy as possible!)., the other two, including the one next to her bed, are plain emulsion.

She has a dolls cradle in there, but most of her toys are downstairs. She has a string of bunting with her name on, made in reds and blues, kind of flowery print I think.

So, after this terribly detailed description, can anyone give me some inspiration for designing this room. I'm not into character stuff. She likes the usual toddler stuff I think - animals, cakes, ice creams, woods, beaches, holidays, toys, books. I've got a friend who makes and sells handcrafted things, who might be able to appliqué designs on plain bedding for me, if I could think of a theme.

And, of course, low budget...

I would recommend anything from Laura Ashleys childrens room range whilst expensive they often have good sales. My 2 year old has 2 walls in the Bella Butterfly wallpaper and then the other 2 are bella butterfly along the bottom half with the co-ordinating border along the middle and at the top with white walls in between. I know you dont want much pink but it really is beautiful. She also had the curtains but had to change them as not dark enough and the rug and bunting to match. She has plum coloured carpet. White bedroom furniture book cases etc although like you a pine cotbed.

Vertbaudet also have great accessories and I got lots of furniture book cases etc in their pre xmas sale last year 40 quid toy boxes for 2.70 etc

Her duvet etc are from John Lewis and in a fairies pattern.

Sounds lovely. I'd forgotten vertbaudet do nice things. I think I remember some wall sticker designs. I'll look at Laura Ashley, thanks.

check out Wall glamour website for brilliant and easy to do decor. I got some large super alien and rockets in metallic sliver to stick on his wall which really made his room fun. They have a huge choice.

Wow, that's a great site. I'm sure I'll find inspiration for a theme there, thanks. Just remembered how much she likes hot air balloons (why??) so will see if they've got some.
