How noisy is your fridge freezer?

We just bought a new Sharp Fridge Freezer - it's a smaller American style one: 80cm wide vs. the usual 90cm wide. I'm disappointed at how noisy it is and wondering if this is normal. Our ground floor is all open plan: kitchen/dining room at back the house, knocked through to living room at front of the house and when I'm sitting in the living room right at the front of the house, I can hear the fridge freezer right at the back of the house. It sounds like I'm living in the freezer section of the supermarket! Is this normal with larger fridge freezers ?

I've got an American style fridge freezer and apart from the clunk, every time the ice ejects into the trough, I don't hear a thing.

Ooops, press send too soon. Meant to say, have you checked that there's nothing around it, that might be vibrating against it? My chest freezer, is very noisy, until I move the broom off it, which is shoved down the side!

Thx for your replies. I think the sound of cows would be quite nice! I've booked an engineer to come look at it - fingers crossed he can sort it out but I've a horrible feeling he'll say the noise is normal.
