I want to start grandson on some basic recipes for cooking simple meals. It comes under our Life Skills thingy.
He likes baking but I'm more looking for simple recipes for cooking easy, cheap meals..
If I see another plate of pasta, I'll go spare. He loves pasta and made it with all sorts of things, but now he wants to do other stuff.

Eggs. There are so many ways of serving eggs, and while they can be quite simple it is a lovely skill to be able to do them just right.

I cook perfectly well - but I simply cannot do a soft-boiled egg!

If you are interested in a recipe book, we have enjoyed Children's Quick and Easy Cookbook by Angela Wilkes.

Sorry, I meant to link to Children's Step-by-step Cook Book by the same author.

Sam Stern is a teenage cook who has written some great books. DS1 loves the one I got him and has cooked a few things out of it. The only thing is that some of the recipes are quite expensive to make!

Homemade pizza is a favourite here. My Dcs love making the dough, and talking about what the yeast does then shaping and topping it. They help make a simple tomato sauce for it too.
