Hi, my daughter has been home educated for a year now and really enjoying it. She is now showing interest in the idea of joining a Home Ed group (for Key Stage 3 Y8/9 in NW London) Any suggestions or contact details on would be much appreciated.

Up until now we have been using Wolsey Hall Oxford which has been good but expensive and we now need to reduce our costs. On top of the costs of the course we pay for a tutor to come several times a week, which is proving to be very expensive. Now that we are a year in and feeling a little bit more confident, we would like to find other good but cheaper course option.
Other than 'Interhigh' and 'Oxford Home Schooling' are there any other recomendations for similar comprehensive Key Stage 3 courses which provide books, support, assessments/ gradings etc in the core subjects?

Thanks in advance

Have you tried joining the Home Education - North West London facebook group? I think you will find that most groups are social rather than academic for that age group. We use NetSchool which we rate highly. You can choose single subjects rather than signing up to everything.

I am in NW London, by the way, and our Home Ed First Lego League team is desperately seeking GIRL KS3 recruits for September! Please PM me for more details - it is a voluntary group and I have been coaching for 6 years!

No help with groups but we keep costs down by buying textbooks and just working through them. I like OUP books or Galore Park for ks3. By yr8/9 we have a mix of GCSE and KS3 on the go so we can stagger the exams over 2/3 years, obviously at GCSE you have to be careful to use the right book for the exam spec you are doing. He does Computer Science via LearnTec and we did Catherine Mooney's KS3 English course this year and are doing her Essay one this one (not ready for GCSE English) everything else we do ourselves from course books, topped up with a few cheap online subs.
