Sounds interesting. Indecently do you know about the Clifton Road meeting that has been happening monthly for some considerable time and is about to become a fortnightly meeting?
Do you get the HELM ( Home Ed Local Magazine) newsletter - that details all the meetings and activities in the West Mids and are you a member of the yahoo email support group and/or the FaceBook page of the same name?

Do you get the HELM newsletter that details all of the HE activities all over the West Mids?
There is also a yahoo email support group of the same name-details of the Clifton Rd meeting and all the others can be found in both these places.

Spoken to Ed Wright at Clifton Road YC, the group hasnt met up for a long time. Seems no-one wants to take control of the group or take responsibility. Id jump at it. Spoken to EHE Dept at Bham cc who are very interested in my proposition. Got some retired teachers who would do small group learning/revision. I shall work on developing this. Think Tank say theres a high demand but data protection rules stop people contacting each other...

"Spoken to Ed Wright at Clifton Road YC, the group hasnt met up for a long time. Seems no-one wants to take control of the group or take responsibility. Id jump at it. Spoken to EHE Dept at Bham cc who are very interested in my proposition."

I'm confused now.
I have just spoken to the home ed parent who runs the Clifton Rd group. It stopped meeting over the summer as usual, but will be starting again this month. The EHE Officer at Birmingham knows this as Birmingham LA actually pays for the room hire for the meeting, which has been monthly in term time and will now be two weekly.

Ed Wright has apparently ony just returned to Clifton Rd after being away from that location for about a year.

If you are interested in helping to run the group that already meets at Clifton Road, Stuart the HE dad who is the main organiser says he would love your help-he says I can pass on his email address so you two can be in touch....if you send me a PM I'll do this.

Do you get HELM the newsletter that covers the West Mids and has been going for about 15+ years?
It details all sorts of things going on and usually includes the Think Tank days, so home educators can go together.
Data protection rules don't stop home educators sharing info and organising going together

Im confused too! Ive been trying to join a group in sutton for three years and have been banging my head against a brick wall as ive emailed so many times and get no replies. Bcc cant give out names and numbers, Ed Wright obviously doesnt know about the group and has no bookings in the diary. Please pass on my email to Stuart. Ive left my details with Ed Wright and Gary Carruthers - I feel like a piggy in the middle! [email protected]. I may have already contacted Stuart (does he have a tutoring company?), and had no response. Thank you julienoshoes. cant find Helm and the bham section of the EO website is out of date and hasnt been touched since 2008 x

I don't know of a HE support group specifically in Sutton, but have sent you a PM with details of where to get the HELM newsletter.

I'll send you an invite to join the HELM yahoo email support group now.

Hi I'm thinking of Home educating my 9 year old son and would be interested in the newsletter you mentioned or in any meetings groups or days out you are arranging so i can reassure myself as to how the socialising side of HE works for children. I live in Boldmere

Hi Franky
I'm in Boldmere with a 9 year old boy and awaiting some info about home educating from julienoshoes.
I am particularly interested in how the children develop social interactions with children of their own age aside from after school groups. Do you have any information please or could you call me on 07920192881 as I want to start HE next year ( my family are completely against it)
