A workshop organised by home educators to discuss the Welsh Government proposals for changing the law on home education was held in Wrexham on September 14th.

Click here edyourself.org/articles/wrexhamworkshop.php to read my notes from the Wrexham workshop, covering bullet point list of what the Government is proposing; the timescale for the proposals; what can be done and; summary of points raised at the September workshop

3 further workshops organised by home educators were held in October:

Home Education Workshop Cardiff, Monday October 8th
Home Education Workshop Llandudno, Tuesday October 16th
Home Education Workshop, Llandrinod Wells, Powys, October 17th

Please get in touch using the contact form edyourself.org/contact if you would like to discuss additional workshops

Thank you very much for this Fiona. I know many of us aren't in Wales but I know that England and Scotland could follow this model. As I am new to H.ed its difficult to see the impact on these propositions but a small point that screamed out at me was the "balanced education", not favouring one suject above others .
This seems wrong imo, because as long as your dc are covering important subjects what does it matter. Also schools do this as they spend more time on Literacy and Numeracy than they do on History or Geography, and Languages are far less.
My dd wouldn't be happy if they restricted her 3+ hours a day music activities Sad

Yes, I just think it's wrong. You might need to be immersed in something for a while. Even for a long while.

There's still time to let the organisers know if you are able to attend the Cardiff or Conwy events

One home educating parent reported from the Powys event that "anonymity is not a problem" and "no one has to give their names or any details."
