Paint for bathroom tiles

My bathroom is quite dated and dull. I'd love to replace it but won't be able to afford/justify it for a couple of years. So I'm thinking of just decorating to cheer it up a bit and add some colour.

There is a shower over the bath and the tiling is in very good condition. Can anyone recommend good tile paint please?

I painted my bathroom tiles white and grey in our two bathrooms that where dated but can not be done for a couple of years. Turned out great! I ordered the paint from amazon I will check the name. The paint is quite runny but dried nicely

I’ve wondered about that too. For my kitchen. Do you paint over everything and then regrout in between the tiles in that usual contrasting cream or white colour? Is the paint Matt? Can you wipe over it?

@Mumintherain, thank you very much for taking the time to check for me. How many coats did you need to apply?

Following as well. Nearly bought some tile paint in Homebase yesterday but they only had big tins at £20 odd. Didn't want to commit so much if it looks crap. Amazon do a small tin - think it's the Rustoleum one for a tenner so might try that first.

I’ve seen tiles painted with something glossy and it looks dreadful. I don’t know what it was they used though. Perhaps just gloss paint! I’m defo not into that look! I think the grout makes the tiles look new. That’s why I’m curious to learn how it’s supposed to be done.

The paint I used was Matt white, it is supposed to only need one coat but I did two thin coats as it’s quite runny and as you are painting vertical tiles if you put on to much in one go you can get drips. I painted over the grouting. I think it works fine if you are painting white. I tried to avoid the grouting when painting a old decorative strip of tiles gray but that was very tricky and time consuming so not worth it for me.

Do you use a roller or a brush?

I used a small smooth roller and brush for corners.
