Boring room, inspiration needed!

Hello all! Looking for inspiration for my lounge please!

It's a big bright space, but currently very boring! The picture is it when we bought it. It's much the same: (minus the table and chairs), with TV on the wall, and a light blue corner sofa. We also have the attached footstool with dark legs, and sofa cushions in corresponding colours, but the white walls just seem a bit boring. Would love to hear your ideas, please! :)

Or, even better... if you know of somewhere we can get extra wide curtains that won't cost the earth!

That's a very beautiful room, I would add a good size rug, photos, side table and plants.

I bought multiple sets of Ikea curtains and had them sewn together (and lined) by a local shop. Ended up v good value.

It looks like a lovely room. Some pictures on the walls would warm it up?

It is a lovely room! I would paint those walls and ceiling. Which way does it face? Bet you get loads of light all day with the roof lantern, so could pretty much paint whatever colour you like. Definitely some nice big houseplants, large prints and / or a decorative mirror, floor / table lamps...

@strongandlong thats a great idea! Did they end up looking like just one set?

Thanks all :) I think we'll definitely go for lamps and a rug.

I'd like to spice up the walls too. The sun comes in late afternoon, (I'm not sure what way that faces!) and it does stay bright for the majority of the day! Husband has been suggesting a feature wall (papered) but I'm not the biggest fan...

Yes, they did. I used Sanela curtains, which are cotton velvet. 3 pairs for a wide Bay and they look lovely (I think so, anyway).

I think having pictures on the walls adds warmth and interest without needing a feature wall. I know lots of people love them, but I think they look pretty dated these days.

A really stunning rug and pictures on the walls is indeed the answer. How about a mirror too?

This is a gorgeous room! I'd suggest using brick slips on one wall, to give it texture rather than simply painting it. You can get really realistic looking ones and they're about £25 per square metre. A nice tall house plant in a large pot would look good too and a big cosy rug with a bold pattern to make a feature. Lovely room though, lots of potential!
