Airbed or other solution for guests?

I have a sofa bed but it's so blooming uncomfortable we never put it out. Instead we borrow an airbed.
I've been looking at buying something and didn't know if there was anything that I could put on my sofa bed that would help? It would need to be packed away when not in use and a mattress protector is no good as it's not thick enough to hide how hard the sofa bed is!! 😁
If not, can anyone recommend an airbed please?
Thanks all

Would a memory foam topper work?

I find futon-style sofa beds more comfortable than traditional sprung ones - could you replace your sofa bed with one of these? They are not always the most comfortable to sit on though but then neither are many sofa beds!

pull out sofa and a memory foam topper.
guests who don't like it can check themselves into a hotel.

Thanks for the replies.
It is a futon style but the cushion is so uncomfy.
Will look into the ideas suggested thanks!

Airbeds are great. Usually more comfy than someone’s ancient spare bed too.

We have two sleep cubes from Futon Company. Much comfier than an air bed.

We've got an Ikea Hemnes daybed. It's made up like a sofa 99% of the time, and is comfy enough to curl up on - though you do need lots of cushions otherwise the back is too hard to lean on, and it pulls out to be a kingsize double. I really, really love it.
