How to reach to paint wall next to stairs?!

Am thinking of trying to give our hall stairs and landing a quick makeover by painting the walls, and am wondering if I’m being ridiculous to think I could do it myself - how do you reach to do the top of the wall near the bottom of the stairs iyswim? Or should I leave it to the professionals 🤔?

You can buy a long stick to put your roller on. If you're sticking to the same colour, you should be OK!

Thank you, but it’s not the same colour so I’m worried about getting the edges neat!

Professionals are a good option, they'll have all the right kit, but you can get an extendable roller attachment if you want to have a go. I think anywhere with a paint department, so Homebase, Wilkos etc, will have them near the regular roller handles.

From what I remember it's not easy to get the same even pressure so you might need to go over that wall twice. The edge by the ceiling is the tricky bit.

You can set up a platform using a ladder and a stepladder and a plank, only for the young and those who bounce though.

Depends on the height of the stairwell.
You can get long handles to attach to rollers, and depending on the layout of your stairs, maybe a ladder.
I recently painted our hall, but don't feel comfortable on high ladders, and would have had to overstretched to reach the corners, but DH who is a lot taller than me, managed to reach fine. So he did the cutting in, and I did the rolllering, using the long pole.
Safety is really important, and overstretching on ladders is apparently a major cause of accidents in the home. If you've got decent ladders and not very high ceilings you might be able to do it yourself, just don't take risks.
If you don't feel you can reach comfortably, get someone in.

We have done up many rooms in different houses, we get a professional in to do the hall stairs and landing.

I got a roller with a long handle, and tied a paintbrush to a stick for the corners Grin. Worked pretty well.

I thought you could get a platform that sits neatly on the stairs

I don't know how big your area is, but I just climbed on a ladder and did ours last October. I am not too bad with heights but even I didn't want to look down much!
