What colour bedding/accessories?

Hi everyone, I’m usually on the parenting forums discussing my 2 year old, but I’ve come over here for some home decorating advice. I am looking to re decorate my bedroom and guest bedroom. I have a taupe/mink coloured carpet and blind in both rooms which I won’t be changing. The walls are painted white and I have white bedside tables and bedding. I’m wanting new bedding, accessories and am open to painting. What colours would go with the existing carpet and blinds do you think? When we moved in 4 years ago we spend a lot of time decorating downstairs and doing the bathrooms. We just ignored the bedrooms (apart from my sons!) but I’m very bored of white now. The rooms have no personality at all! Thank you in advance!

I think that you could go with duck egg blue in one room and dusky pink in another. Each would go well with the carpet and blinds. You could do as little or as much as you want in each colour, e.g. paint walls or just do bedding and accessories...

Thinking about it, if you want to paint, I'd suggest a warmer neutral for the walls and then accessorize each room with a colour. You'll find that the neutral base colour then looks different in each room. Accessories wise, you'd just need bedding and lamps to start with.

A light blue would look really fresh with white furniture and add a 'New England' chic to the space. You could always keep the light coloured bedding but opt for different fabrics which are as 'flat' as cotton. For example satin sheets that reflect light.

What is the mood you want to achieve in the room? As an interior designer that's usually one of the first questions to think about. Smile
