Too dark for a bedroom? (Pic)

Is this to dark for a bedroom? Am not really into feature walls so it would cover all 4 walls. Wardrobes are dark brown, floor is orangey pine. Pics have hopefully attached.

It's Dulux Soft Montelimar 1.

I wouldn’t choose it. It will be very dark and it’s not a very luxurious shade. If a room is painted dark it needs to be sumptuous.
I’m not into dark decor, but there are some nice navy’s, deep purples and even greens.
You need lots of soft furnishings to pull it off as a look.

Not if you like it.
It would be for me especially with the brown wardrobes but dark rooms are popular at the moment. Have a look at Abigail Aherne on Instagram for inspiration on dark rooms.

That's a good point. I can see what you mean - and I'm not really into sumptious stuff. I was hoping for a contemporary feel and thought stronger colours might do it. Have too many light blues/greys already in the house so they're out. What about this instead? (Denim Drift)

Gosh, that 2nd pic of Denim Drift looks completely different! It looks more like the first one on the floor

I'm having a really deep blue in my bedroom. Our dining room is a very dark colour but it creates a very cosy intimate space and I'm looking to have that in my bedroom as well.

Apparently people who have blue bedrooms get on average 30 minutes more sleep (some questionable website). My sleep us crap so I'll take that!

I like the look of the denim on the wall, reminds me of my living room. The brown i think would be too much.

I agree with the PP that it's very sumptuous. I think it's a bit too dark for a bedroom. However it is a lovely colour, perhaps you could customise some a dresser/bedside table with it?

I definitely prefer the denim if it’s like the first pic.

Also - I would trim the white edge off your samples as it detracts a bit from the overall idea you'll get of what the colour will be like (I'm a bit finickety like that Grin)

That second colour is much nicer - not a fan of the brown at all, it's not that it's too dark, it's not 'rich' enough?

Bixg - thanks for the link. Wish they would have labelled the colours on the walls as I like some of them.

I thought the white might show what it would look like next to the white skirting/ceiling but I take your point.

Have painted sample paint on walls and I now think the Soft Montelimar 1 and 2 is definitely too dark. Still not sure of the Denim Drift ...

Grufeling I think the colour is Heartwood:

PS - I don't work for Dulux!
I have been meaning to decorate my bedroom for 18 months - you are inspiring me Grin

My bedroom is very dark, I like it that way. The rest of the house is light and airy but I feel warm and cosy in my bedroom.

I like the denim colour.

I think can work really well, but only if it’s something bold and strong - I don’t think that brown can carry that kind of mood properly. I think navy or dark teals worth well for that.

(google Navy bedroom to see what I mean).

With brown furniture I’d be more inclined to teal (navy for white I think).

I really like that colour and have used very similar before.
It looks good against black and white or cream, not so much with pine.
Dark blue is great with wood and looks very good on walls, I have used Little Green HIcks blue and its gorgeous, good pics on this

Maybe it would help if you could show us pictures of rooms that have the feel you're going for. I know you said "contemporary" but that could mean different things to different people. Also maybe a photo of the room and furnishings, or the way you like to decorate in the rest of your house?

Stiffkey blue would be more my cup of tea with the blue as the quality of the pigment is better but if I had to pick I’d pick the denim drift.

It's not letting me post any pics of contemp rooms I like as, apparently, I've had my max of 6 for the day. Oh well.

We have a very deep plum in our bedroom, but only on one wall. The rest of the walls are off-white. I love it - it's striking and warm and cosy, but doesn't make the room too dark.

I have a brown bedroom. I hate it. I too was going for a cosy intimate feel. I got premier inn. In my defence, I chose a deep purple wallpaper but the (crap) decorated said he couldn't put it up and we had 30mins to choose something else.

I'm redecorating soon, to light colours! It is a huge room though so dark is oppressive rather than sumptuous.
