Whitekichen floor - stupid?

We are days away from starting a fairly big extension. I have been planning the interior for a while, and I really want an almost entirely white kitchen, with lots of splashes of colour.

White corian worksurface with integrated sink, white cabinet doors, and I wanted white vinyl flooring. However, all my friends think I am ridiculous for wanting a white floor. I can't shake the image of what I want, and trying to choose other options is impossible.

Does anyone have white flooring in the kitchen (especially vinyl) that can support me?!!!

I don't have a white kitchen floor, I do have a pale stone kitchen floor (not my choice, came with the house) and I hate it.

When we get the kitchen redone we'll be opting for terracotta.

Yes - it is foolish, unless you really adore cleaning the kitchen floor on a daily basis?

Insanity. My friends bought a house with a white tiled kitchen floor - they cleaned it every day and it would look dirty again within minutes. They replaced with concrete tiles.

bright white vinyl will show dents and scratches as well as dirt.
What about white with a speckle? Light grey cement-look? White-painted-wood-look?
Have you used one of the kitchen visualisers (Magnet one) to try different looks?
If you're not careful it will look like an operating theatre as well as being hard to keep clean.

(What about making the floor the splash of colour? Some fabulous coloured vinyls out there. Purple? Lime?)

Waaaaa!

I know.

I am not overly house proud, and I know I won't be doing the daily sweeping and mopping it would need. I just want it!

And I am the first to laugh when people with children have white everything. But it looks so nice. In my head.

Seeing as I can't even type white kitchen floor, I am clearly not meant to own one.

Don't go the other way and choose slate - shows water marks and every speck of dust.

Yep, had slate in previous house.

I want vinyl - it seems to be the perfect choice for a kitchen; soft, warm, relatively cheap and easy to clean. I think I will go for a light grey or a patterned one.

Love your name btw the Schnitzel, he's my favourite.

Depends on the colour of your dogs, for me with a yellow lab and a golden retriever who are both quite pale a white kitchen floor would hide the hair quite effectively

In all seriousness I'd go for a wood or terracotta colour, it will contrast really well with the white and you'll get more of a "ping" from the white cabinets etc 😊

What about a white-washed wood look? Then it would technically be white but with enough texture to mask daily dirt...

There's a blogger, Forever Amber, who has a lot of white flooring and raves about how low maintenance it is.

I've got shiny white tiles on my kitchen floor put in by previous owner.

They look super actually. I just choose not to see the 'bits' that need sweeping.

We have shiny white tiles on our kitchen floor. They look lovely - for about 30 secs after they've just been swept and polished.

My NDN has a white resin floor throughout downstairs. Very clinical. I hear her vacuuming at least twice a day.
