What to put on window sils?

I had a clear out of my younger tack from when I lived in my first 2 bed house. I didn't have many window sils to fill or many decent things to bring with me.
Now I'm in a bigger house with so many window sils to fill and they are bare!
Want to make the house look cosier but still modern. I have some photo frames, a candle, the odd plant...
Any great ideas???

Do you have any collections of small things? Little boxes, bowls, vases even small books.

Things grouped in 3s always look less isolated. Be careful putting anything glass on a window sill, in strong sunlight they act as magnifiers and can start fires.

I have 3 cases on my kitchen window sil but there are 2 more large window sils in there too.
I'm not one for nic nacs. I have some things from my travels but all bright colour clashing items. I wanted more modern, grown up things now.
I'm struggling. Will look around for things in 3s. I have done this in my bedroom with copper pots but not sure about kitchen and hall.

Yes, herbs on my kitchen sink window would be good. Thanks.
I have two large windows with blinds in the dining room area of my kitchen. Any ideas for here?

I opt to put as little as possible on the window sills because I'm lazy about dusting Grin but pot plants like window sills.

Vase of flowers or pot plants and candles. Recipe books on kitchen windowsill or antique weighing scales are v popular round here (rural). Candlesticks or a row of tealight holders for dining room/area?

Some good ideas. Thanks.
I wanted to have something about modern and quirky as redecorating soon after a rewire.
I've tried Pinterest but it just keeps being up cactuses!

What about large china balls. Sometimes you can get these in the outdoor garden section of DIY stores or garden centres. There might be something else in this area there are often weathered metal objects, designed for outdoor, but could be indoor. ( I have a couple of metal chickens that live in my sun room!)
Other than that do you have an antique shop that you could browse for something. I know you said modern, but there might be some retro ideas there.

I have seen some nice heart bowls in Oliver Bonas and some sculptures in John Lewis.
I forgot about ornament type things!
I'm starting to get inspired...

Had another thought. A fish tank filled with succulents and ferns. Like an indoor garden.
