Please can someone help me Im getting myself all confused!! I have two very wide bay windows requiring curtains.... they are 345cm wide (this is with me allowing space each side). My question is, would a pair of curtains measuring 228cm each be ok or would they not meet in the middle when hung? Pencil pleats would gather more than eyelets am I right? Thanks in advance for anyone willing to help a novice!!!!

Each curtain would be 228 so 456 overall. It would close but you'd not have a lot of fullness. The pencil pleats only gather more if you actually gather them, otherwise they will be the same width as the eyelets. I'd just go for a style you prefer/fits on your rails.

Some people put 2 sets of curtains and join them but that's a bugger to match if you are buying ready made but if you were in the budget for made to measure, you would just be able to make them wider in the first place...

Thanks for your reply... yes unfortunately this is my first home and I'm on a very tight budget. I got a quote for custom made and nearly fell off my chair. Ok well youve given me hope there! I think as long as they meet in the middle thats ok.. Interesting about the pencil pleats I didnt know that, thankyou

On the bit where you put the hooks in on the top of the curtains, there are string bits that you pull in to make the gathers to your own requirements. I'm not in the mead to measure bracket either :)

Best of luck in your new home Flowers

All home now - I'ts not far away and when it's cold I usually do a long route round to warm the car better. However, I needed to get milk and bread so just went to the shop and the car was cold again by the time I got back in. The things we do for the love of our children! :o
