If feature walls are naff, can I paint two walls in same colour?

We've got a living room/diner, rectangular shaped room. I'd really like to paint the short wall (behind the dining table) in a dark/navy blue. I'm not sure about painting the whole room that shade, but thinking of painting the two opposite short walls blue and the long walls which have the windows and doors in a lighter grey.

Or just the diner wall blue? If it's the back wall rather than the main focus of the room does that mean it's not naff and therefore ok? Grin

I think you should do what you like. We had a bedroom with two walls painted in a strong colour - one had chimney breast in it, the other had the bed head against it - the others in a pale neutral.

I have the two short walls and the two chimney breast painted burgundy, the others cream.

I ouwld say don't paint the opposite walls the same color, there needs to be a connection between the two walls otherwise it will look cut up. I'd say paint the wall you want blue, take a step back and decide from there if you want more.

Thanks all. I will give it some more thought and maybe try just painting one before deciding!
