Roman blinds / roller blinds

I need blinds for our bay window

Hadn't even considered roller blings thinking them strictly for kitchens. BUT the blinds will have to go in the window recess and I'm thinking a roman blind when folded will take up a proportion of the top part of the window which although wide is not particularly tall.

Would a roller blind look unspeakably naff when rolled up? In a sitting room

I have both in my house. In the living room we have blackout roller blinds, but the edges are a bit unsightly, so we have sheer muslin curtains either side to soften it.
We also have roman blinds in our bedroom. As we could only afford ones from Dunelm they aren't that great, and I would suggest you go elsewhere. The fabric is nice, and they are blackout apart from the sewing holes, but the cords keep breaking and I had to sew the loops on as they kept breaking. They also have a tendency not to pull up straight.

We have a couple made to measure from John Lewis; one in the lounge that I think looks good! Was impressed with the options and 7 day turnaround
Also have a couple of Dunelm (with twirly stick to move up & down rather than cord) in bedrooms, so far so good and much cheaper than John Lewis!
