I'm redecorating a 4m2 lounge at last
I quite like the existing colourscheme but the ugly gas fireplace needed to go as well as the carpet.
I'm having an oak beam mantle, slate hearth with an electric faux woodburning stove (don't shoot me!)
The floor will be solid oak, I'm torn between Wickes 83mm Medina and B&Q 150mm Rondo??
Not the most original but I favour simplicity
I have a tan matt leather sofa and armchair, huge green Ikea Hampen rug (deployed to cover manky carpet) and assorted cushions and abstract wall canvases with teal accents. Various teal/ green/ white ceramics and lanterns as well.
The walls are currently almond white (or thereabouts) courtesy of previous owner. I was thinking of keeping the wall and chimneybreast as they are but possibly painting the alcoves a taupe-mushroomy-greige for contrast? Curtains are cream with a taupe panel at the top.
What colour should I do the skirting and picture rail? White satinwood?
Should I paint the ceiling white down to the picture rail (12" from ceiling)?
Does white look weird with cream/almond? The windows are new and white framed so I thought it might look okay if I went over all the woodwork (doors too) in white satinwood.
Should I paint the radiator too? It's currently cream/ almond too
