trade paint v normal

planning on repainting a few rooms (from magnolia to white).

I noticed some colours are marketed as 'trade'. what is the difference to the normal paints?

I want something that is long lasting. has good coverage (would like to get away with 2 coats). is trade a better option ?

My only experience has been using Dulux matt trade emulsion in pbw for a bathroom ceiling which had had some replastering work done to it. I thinned some of the paint for a mist coat then painted the whole ceiling. I found it easier to see where I had already painted than with standard emulsion. Texture and ease of use were no different.

We've had trade colour matched to Farrow and Ball. Its a decent colour match but the look of the paint is slightly different when its on the wall. The price difference is significant though.

I only use trade white for ceilings - opacity and coverage are loads better. Not sure for walls though.

DH insisted we use trade paint for the woodwork when we did the hall stairs and landing. It's been rubbish, I need to repaint it all as its worn through in places, even with the right preparation.

I think it's just the commonest colours so you can buy in bulk. I've used lots of trade white and undercoat from Selco.
