Fixer Upper tv show - serious house envy

Have become slightly obsessed with Fixer Upper - 7pm itvbe weeknights - this cool couple do up dilapidated houses and the results are insane. I now feel totally underwhelmed by my 3 bed semi which is especially infuriating given that it cost more than most of the houses in the show after the renovation! God American housing is so cheap it's crazy. Anyway, anyone else seen the show? the designer Jo mixes up gorgeous antique fireplaces and chandeliers with white wood, dark floors and does so many finishing touches. I'm currently planning a new kitchen and am taking loads of tips down - although I won't get the same effect as they are all so huge and open plan on the show.

I love it too! Guilty please for sure and total house envy... every time!
Have you noticed, every time Jo goes into a kitchen she says, "Nothing much needs to be done in here, so I going to do all new flooring, wall panelling, splashbacks, cabinets and appliances... and knock this wall back to make it bigger... and put a big island in the middle"...
I swear... Every kitchen! Grin

I know! She uses the same formula every time but lord does it work! I love it when she goes antique hunting and how Chip teases her about her hoarding! Think I would love my DH to be like Chip - he's so indulgent with her and clearly adores her - my DH zones out if I try to discuss anything house related and doesn't understand my obsession with mirrors and chandeliers! Did you see last nights episode with the young newly weds - that grey bedroom made me scream! The fireplace was insane and the lamp sconces and the pink peonies against the dark grey - beautiful.
Did you know they have an online shop - Magnolia Market - haven't sussed out yet if they ship to UK - could be serious!

I love it too!

I can't decide whether Chip is the most annoying man on the planet or completely lovable.

The only thing I hate is that they often put wanky writing on the walls.

I'm always fascinated by the costs and how easy it is to do major renovation - probably helps when the houses are generally timber and not brick and BRegs aren't as stringent. One I watched they bought the wreck for the same cost as our windows!

Yeah think Chip could be well annoying but his humour is very toilet which I like - maybe he just hams it up for the cameras.
I don't like the writing stuff either - Love is ... shite - I just gloss over that. Also not a fan of all the old style books just laid out for decoration. but the wood floors, fireplaces, chandeliers - heaven.

I find myself watching every time.

I don't really like her style much, is a bit twee for me, but I suppose that's what people like, and it it annoys me that the owners agree with every thing and just say " awesome", but I can appreciate the change in the houses.

im addicted to this show too. sigh. i lust after those huge american houses.

I have totally noticed she rolls out the same phrase every time she walks into the kitchen! don't for get the shiplap....

I don't like the staged books or wall writng either. I also don't like her 'playrooms' because they never look like a kids room - no practical toy storage or kids stuff.

BUT the wood floors, the bathrooms always look amazing with huge walk in closets etc.

Chip would drive me nuts of he was like that in real life, but he makes amusing viewing.

compulsive viewing!

I think they're looking into international shipping but not there yet - I asked them (via Twitter) as I wanted one of the t-shirts. Love the programme too - lived in NZ and in Vancouver for a while so totally get the wooden house thing.....
