A home Style&Beauty type challenge: find us a new bed!

We're looking for a super king sized bed in a dark wood (eg mahogany or walnut coloured but doesn't have to be made from those woods). It needs to have a low footend (mattress height or below) and have room to hide junk store belongings underneath. It needs to be reasonably traditional in look to work with antique style furniture.

The best I've found on the internet is www.obc-uk.net/beds/wood-beds/wood-bed-nocturne.htm but we don't really like the "pole" effect along the top of the head/foot and would prefer chunkier legs.

We also like www.getlaidbeds.co.uk/wooden-beds/standard-height-beds/oxford-bed but want something that covers the mattress at the footend rather more, and it's possibly a bit too modern looking.

This is also nice: www.wayfair.co.uk/Joseph-International-Louis-Bed-Frame--JSH1309.html but is lacking the storage space underneath.

Can anyone help us to find us our perfect bed???

Oooh mummaemma that looks promising - will investigate that site further!

ggirl you're right - doesnt meet our criteria at all but is lovely :-) (if they did it with a darker wood frame would be tempted...)

wonkylegs the Minuet is just the kind of thing but they don't seem to do it in super king :-(

member the Lille is lovely but we'd prefer to be able to store things underneath and this looks a bit low for that

Have you thought about showing a cabinet maker your ideal combination and asking them to make one for you ?! I sketched a four poster that I wanted and had it made by a welder ( iron not wood) and it only came to £500 !!! I was shocked at what good value for money it was - it's exactly what I wanted - 6'x 7' ( we are both tall !) considering it wasn't even a standard length !! We bought our over long mattress from the big bed company !

Sorry hadn't seen the 'super king' bit
Traditional www.robinsonsbeds.co.uk/Epoca-Bed-p112.html don't know how it does for storage though as you can't see under sides.
Not so much storage but beautiful here
Or here
Beautiful but no foot
This one hopefully ticks all boxes

Ggirl, if it helps I live the Darcy too and we are getting it as soon as our loft is done! Just need to pick the right fabric for it...

Thanks everyone - have sent off some fact finding emails on some of these to investigate further.

If they don't work out I will try cabinet makers Wookies.
