my new kitchen (nearly finished YAY!!!) is white units and white tiles and currently white walls and ceiling. The worktop is a sort of mottled thing sort of a bit like that, handles are chrome. floor will match worktops. all woodwork is bright white gloss.

Would you keep the walls white or paint them a different colour?

I really love how white it looks, but I'm wondering if it's a little soulless, and also how practical white walls will be long term! grin

3rd angle

First angle didn't seem to post.

here it is again.

Ok, now the wooden bread bin is going to be chrome. and maybe the microwave. and I know the utensil thing on the window doesn't match, but it belonged to my beloved late grandparents so it's staying. grin

I'm going to need a wider freezer for that space. hmm

Another idea is keep the walls white and add bit of colour or pattern with some blinds and tea towels etc.
You have a lovely kitchen.

Good idea.
It's not a posh expensive kitchen by any means, but I'm proud of it. grin

It's very white. You need some colourful accessories like tea towels.

Nice knobs.

They are. I can't stop stroking them. grin

I wonder if a really bright coloured blind in an all white kitchen would look good, striking or ridiculous.

How about some bowls or vases in bright colours on top of the cupboards? My MIL did that to great effect in her kitchen. Just quirky stuff she found in charity shops.

ImTooHecsyForYourParty Sat 06-Apr-13 22:36:18

ooh, charity shop hunting. My favourite pastime. grin Bright glass. That would look nice on all white, wouldn't it?

Fluffy1234 Sat 06-Apr-13 22:43:55

Soft colours such as duck egg blue may also work well and go with your worktops. I think some pattern would be nice.

Tee2072 Sat 06-Apr-13 22:48:22

Anything would look great against all that white.

I'm sensing you're thinking it's too much white, Tee? grin

Yes, fluffy, I think accessories are the way to go.

Ohhh I'm very jealous, I'd love a new kitchen. I think its a bit too white (sorry). Dulux Wellbeing goes lovely with white. It's a fresh green colour. I have it all over my house blush.

ImTooHecsyForYourParty Sat 06-Apr-13 23:12:42

ooh, I LOVE that! I am going to have that in my hallway. I've got a dark green carpet there and it would match beautifully.

cocolepew Sat 06-Apr-13 23:15:55

We have wonderful taste Hec grin

I have a pretty white kitchen too. I like it because when its clean I know its clean and I find it quite relaxing just to have the one colour. I just have a kettle, toaster, scales and a vase sometimes filled with white flowers on the worktops. I guess to some people it would look cold and horrible. If I have friends round for drinks I put fairy lights out.

Tee2072 Sun 07-Apr-13 06:58:31

Yes, I do Hec. grin

JazzAnnNonMouse Sun 07-Apr-13 10:18:27

Um I think it's quite white...

ImTooHecsyForYourParty Sun 07-Apr-13 10:27:29

We do, coco.

Yes, you hid it well, Tee wink

grin yeah, it is, Jazz. But it does look so clean, as Jesse says! When I go in it, it's just so bright and fresh and clear. A lot of people will hate it, but it's really striking and I like that.

Tee2072 Sun 07-Apr-13 10:46:36

It does look very clean, I'll give you that.

I'm quite good at hiding my feelings, yes Hec? wink

ImTooHecsyForYourParty Sun 07-Apr-13 10:50:57

Oh dear. Not too good, I hope. [paranoid]

Ours has all white cupboards/ walls. But have a dark oak floor and work top so is balanced ( I think). All appliances on show are chrome but most are hidden ( built in fridge/ washing machine/ dishwasher/ microwave) as I hate clutter! smile any accessories are bamboo wood or glass, hand towels etc are white also.

So I would say stick to 3/4 colours max. So ATM you have white and chrome, with a grey work top. In your kitchen I would maybe add some light colour on the wall. Could you add some tiles?

JazzAnnNonMouse Sun 07-Apr-13 11:54:33

It does look clean but also a tad um lifeless
(Like the bodies you're storing?) grin

Actually, lots of different coloured accessories (vases, glasses, bowls etc.) would work really well. Some sort of "retro" things, that would sort of clash with the really modern look you have.

But that sort of thing tends to find you, rather than you needing to go out and find it. Maybe you'll be out one day and see something in a little junk shop, and then something else when you go to the seaside for the day, that sort of thing.

As its so neutral, there's lots of things you can do. If it was, say, red and grey, you would have to be far more concerned about whether things would clash.

(too many "sorts" in this post.)

I love purely white but I will use some items to decorate it. You can use beads to make some beautiful articles then put them on the hall.
