Academic criteria met on both
Several years working in property (mature student) but undergraduate degree wasn’t RICS accredited so finding a company to employ me while putting me through the masters as additional study has drawn a blank.

Which would likely have better career prospects at the end.

I would say Building Surveyors have wider career options. QS is perhaps narrower.

However as you have discovered, the building industry is fickle and is very dependent on the feel good factors of the economy regarding new builds. However all the surveyors we know are gainfully employed snd always have been. Reading is a good place to study for this career.

Ds is looking at QS degree for after A levels so have attended several uni open days. All have said QS are in high demand at the moment. One said that the industry has calculated an annual requirement of 2700 new QS - all the uni courses combined are only producing about 800 a year ATM so jobs after graduation are plenty.
