Tuition fee loan - when and how to apply?

Dd has unexpectedly been offered a uni place to start this September. She will be living at home and we will support her living expenses, travel etc, but she will need to have the tuition loan for the £9,250. We are all new to this, and I've looked at the direct gov website but don't understand how it works. Please could someone enlighten me? Thank you!

Apply via Student Finance online. Although they say it can take up to 6 weeks, my application only took 4 in total. You will need to print and sign a declaration, also send evidence of income/id but it will tell you what to send in when you fill out the application

I was caught unawares with this as the deadline for applying was July 31st! But DS did just get his application in on time.

But they must have a system for people in your DD's situation I would have thought.

Good luck.

Thank you both. She's late twenties, so will be doing this herself, so I'll give her the info. Presumably if the application takes six weeks (this will be after the start date of her degree) the university will let her start the course? Hope so anyway.
