DS completed his UCAS form and sent it to head of 6th form on 5th Jan yes I know it's cutting it fine and I have been nagging him since September! for checking and completing reference- has had it sent back to add a couple of things during the week but he's still not sent it off!
He's beginning to panic now as deadline is tomorrow- Will I/ he have to be phoning uni admissions offices on Monday ?

In my school m, it takes about 14 days to process an application once a student uploads their Personal Statement so your son didn't give them much time, HOWEVER, it sounds like they are processing it and thank heavens they did as it looks like there were some mistakes in the application. When did your DS last give them back a corrected application? Does it say Sent yet on this online form?

Where is he applying and for what course. Loads of unis don't care that much about the deadline anymore since they removed student number control.

Still Not been sent yet.....he's applying for Anatomy/Forensic anthropology as well as Ocean Sciences part of the reason he's been late in submitting, really couldn't decide! he honestly likes the sound of both courses shock
Would it be worth phoning Unis if form not been sent by Monday?( He's already contacted Dundee in October about Forensic anthropology, in regards to A levels he's studying)

Most universities will still consider an application after the deadline tomorrow. If not, you have two options:

Ucas Extra: Ucas Extra runs from 25 February to 4 July if it turns out he gets no offers. Other institutions will then receive his application and consider in turn.

Ucas Clearing: the Clearing cycle kicks in from July, finishing in September. This is the time when any empty places are up for grabs.

The college I work at has the same rule (10 working days for processing), so it's realistic to expect your son may need to wait. As mentioned already, some unis are not hugely bothered about the deadline, so he may well still get offers as long as there are places on the course still.
I'm not sure what your son will say to the unis if he does phone, as they will be waiting to see his application before making any decisions. As there doesn't seem to be a definite reason (such as sickness for example) why it wasn't completed before I'm not sure what they will say to reassure him, but of course he could contact them if wanted to on Monday.
It sounds as if he has applied for two very different types of courses however; he will have to have produced an excellent personal statement to cover both of these scenarios.

I hope the application is sent off quickly and your son gets the offers he wants.

Yeah it does sound like a bit of a random choice. Not much you can do now really though. And the balance of power is very much with the students at the moment. Asking as grades are ok he should be fine.

My DD submitted a late application last year (Easter time) with 3 RG choices on it for a Stem subject and still got all 3 offers.

Has it been sent yet? The deadline is 6pm today so there's still time.

There's no point phoning the universities. The next few days will be amongst the busiest in the year for Admissions Offices and what would he say anyway - my form is late as I didn't get my act together in time? Unless he's applying for really selective courses, missing the deadline shouldn't make too much difference. Good luck.

If he really isn't sure what to do can he take a year out and go next year?
He would get valuable work experience over the year and would hopefully end up on the right course for him.
