Maintenance loan query

Does anyone know how this is divvied up? DD has a loooong Michaelmas term then two much shorter terms after Christmas and Easter. Will she get the same again at the beginning of these terms, or will it be less?

My dd was Welsh student at Scottish uni.....her third loan instalment came at end of April when she only had a month left at uni!( it did help see her through summer hols till she got a job though!)... Crazy
Her fellow Scottish students got a monthly payment which was a lot easier to budget for

Thank you! So it's chopped in 3? That's fantastic as this term is looooong, but if it's means she'll have fewer months to stretch it over after Christmas and Easter that's great. I must encourage her to get a proper student overdraft.

Op tell your DD to log onto her account on student finance, there she will be able to see the amounts to be paid and dates.

My DS got his first payment today, it was less than a third of total, when he checked SF account it seems his final payment is the largest - which I am guessing will be for a shorter period as he finishes beginning of June. Crazy logic!

However, since it is all going on hall fees, with us paying the top up of hall costs, it just means we top up more now and less in spring (halls instalments are equal it seems)

I've just checked as far as I can and it looks like it is indeed divided by three. So DD has to stretch the maintenance loan this and next term and then has over £1000 for the final month

We're paying hall fees and the maintenance is for day to day expenses. Which is very generous of us! We got really stung by her older sisters rent this year- we've been paying it since July and she's not moved in yet

Imina - we are effectively doing the same, but topping up the halls first, then giving him a monthly maintenance allowance.

It works out that our contribution is more or less the difference between his maintenance loan and what he would have got on maximum maintenance loan, just a different way of doing it.

Hadn't thought to do it your way, although reading various threads, your way seems to be quite common.

We too pay accommodation for both dds...then their loan is for day to day living expenses/food/ travel/clothes.... However also having to pay dd1 fees for her post grad diploma (£6000) as she wasn't eligible for any grants/ bursaries......
then next year will have dd2 and ds1 both at uni together!..... Thank goodness we both earn decent salaries otherwise it would be very difficult

It's expensive isn't it- whenever DD mentions she needs something posted up I remind her she's got more disposable income and time than me!
They also have access to my Amazon Prime and Asos next day and so far have been very restrained. DD1 ordered a prom dress last year and some hangers and DD2 hasn't sussed it yet!
