You have completely thrown in the gloves and pinny then hun?

nailpolish · 01/08/2005 10:38

donbean glad you came along

do you think im being silly? too dramatic? to hasty?

i feel like a huge weight is off my shoulders, dont have to organise childcare, have a job with much less responsibility (cos i get a bit overwhelmed with all the responsibility of dd's at home) and i really wasnt enjoying nursing, all the shit that goes with it, esp bank nursing.

you dont think ill regret it do you? (i dont)

Are you off to buy new uniform today then?
i.e. a push up bra and low cut tops and some dangly earrings?

gingerbear · 01/08/2005 10:58

well done btw!

gb, thats what i wore for my interview, so i had better keep up that 'high' standard

im thinking more along the lines of comfy shoes, wipeable ones for all the beer thats going to splash on them (as opposed to blood and vomit from last job)

Not at all Nailpolish, i am in awe of your guts!
I dont blame you at all,not one little bit.
You must have thought about it long and hard because its a big decision to make, after all you did train for all those years.
Good luck with it.
Every now and then i shall post to let you know how crappy it still is so that you know that you are not missing any thing at all!

is nursing really that crap??? im intending to do a degree next year, its not that bad surely??

Report
nailpolish · 01/08/2005 16:29

every now and then donbean i will need to know what im missing, good and bad

tiredemma, to me, yes, it really is that bad. i wouldnt recommend it. but that just my opinion. there are jobs in nursing that are lovely, but they are like gold dust. good luck if you do decide to go ahead

Nursing is not the best job in the world IMHO.
You will know whats involved though from your research into the job tiredmama?

Report
Donbean · 01/08/2005 16:35

let me rephrase...what do you think the job entails tiredmama?
what do you want to specialise in btw?

nailpolish · 02/08/2005 12:21

tiredemma, are you a travel agent just now? (maybe its another emma)

if so, i would stick with that tbh, unless you feel nursing is a 'vocation' or you want to do something specific

Had a horrendous shift on Monday which just confirmed my belief that it just isnt for me any more.
I cant stop thinking about it and it is really really getting me down.

Weh heh np!!! Glad you are jollier than you were 6 months ago.
Bar work is a real laugh (did it for about 3 years when I first jacked in uni)but..........

you will stink of fags
shoes will rot as you are schlepping through beer all night
pay is shite
you will have to fend of pervs and barflies all night
when will you see dh if he's been at work all day?

Maybe you will be ready for something else again in a few months???

its soon to be no smoking here in scotland from march (public places) thank god

ill only be working 2 nights thru the week and weekends one shift so ill see dh pretty much those other nights

ill miss him tho, but i need to do this for my sanity!

Pay is shite in most jobs like this, TBH...I have just started working at a call centre (sort of) and it's much worse than a supermarket (they pay relatively good rates, nailpolish, if you fancy a change, and they have flexible hours too - if you wanted to apply to Tesco, Toothache would tell you how to answer the psychological profile Qs!)

(I have BTDTGTT with supermarkets though, hence call centre.)

I am trying to decipher your acronym Jan,but copious quantities of wine don't help.
Konw what you mean about the sanity np. I worked for £12 a month for a whole year in Russia for the very same reason. Good luck to you, gel!!! (Said East Enders style)

Not that I watch it,you understand......
