I really really want this job, so its got to be good. The thing is I'm pants at writing things about myself and I have no idea how to finish it. Here is what I have so far.

I am applying for the post of Social work assistant as I feel i need a fresh challenge. It has been my long term goal to become a fully qualified social worker and this job would give me a fantastic opportunity to persue this as a realistic career option.
In my current job as a support worker for people with mental health problems, many of my key responsibilities mirror that of social work assistant and I feel that I have a range of transferable skills that I could bring to the post. For example;

-I am responsible for organising support plan reviews for my clients, this includes liasing with client and other agencies involved such as social work, CPN, OT. to arrange venue, time, and date to suit all. Agenda is also discussed at this time.

-It is my resposibility to write up support plan review within a set time frame and ensure that copies are sent out to all relvant persons.

-On going assesment of clients needs, this includes working closely with clients and team members to be aware of any improvement or deterioration indicating that changes to support are required or that other agencies need to be involved.

-Supporting clients in the transition from hospital to home by working closely with client and other agencies involved to ensure that discharge is well managed and sucessful.

-Supporting clients to maximise income, this includes me being aware of benifits system and referal to welfare rights officer if nessesary.

-It is my responsibility to ensure that I am up to date with current organisational policies and proceedures and that all work undertaken is in accordance with this.

-I participate and contrbute to supervision with my line manager to evaluate my performance and areas of development required.

I feel the above examples show that I have good communication and interpersonal skills. I have the ability to work as part of a team and on my own inititive. I can communicate verbally and in writing. I can complete assesments under supervision. I have knowledge of welfare rights. I am a motivated person and have good organisational skills. I am willing to participate in appropriate training.

What else should I put? Is it to long? Not enough? Or is it pants. Please ignore the typos, its a work in progress

I dont know anything about social work, but looks good to me, you have a good grasp of the role you are in and how this pertains to the new role, you are obviously enthusiastic and show that you have thought carefully about how to approach this with a view to being a social work assistant.

Good for you, go get em, hope it goes well, be positive, seems a good length, not to wordy, def not pants. I think you may be the next social work assistant.

I am just trying to do one of these for myself so have founds yours useful to give me an idea of what mine should be like! Also bumping for you to try to get attention of those that know about thse things. It does sound like you should get the job to me, you sound ideal.

(Just one thing, sure it is a typo but it should be benefits, not benifits).

HI,
this sounds good to me and I employ and train Social workers.. do mention relevent work and volunteer work experience..
maybe mention supporting to maximise independence and working in partnership with others orgs. to acheive this..e.g health teams, OT, Community Mental health, Gp... It would help to know social work asst. in which team? CMHT? LD team?? Older peoples.
as you could mention a key Legislation like valuing people white paper if LD.
hope this helps and good luck
