Any CPS lawyers/advocates out there?

I'm a criminal barrister and have been back at work at the about 4m after ML. DS is 12m. I'm not sure I can take the unpredictability/travelling around and in week only seeing DS early mornings and eves when he's cranky plus the increasingly high chambers rent. All my old priorities have changed. I know I need to give it a bit more time but anyone made the switch to CPS? How did you find it? How does the pay work and what don't you like? Can you do part time? Any comments/advice gratefully received.

I used to work for the CPS, although i was a solicitor. They are very flexible like all government jobs so you can definately work part time etc, the pay was not bad, I was on around £30k pa and that was nearly 5 years ago and I was not on my probation year.

I think i was unfortunately in a VERY badly managed branch, the manager didn't have a clue and i was just thrown in at the deep end and consequently I didn't have a clue and hated it. BUT having said that i am actually considering as one of my options when thinking about going back to work as aside from the bad management the actual workload was quite interesting.

There were also quite a few lawyers like you there ie ex-barristers with children who needed a bit more security and they seemed to like it.
