Work

Jealous of SAHF

I earn more than my DP can, but really don't want to be the main earner. So far I've been working 4 days a week and he's been SAHF. Now he's found a job meaning he would work 5 days a week including Sat. It would be better for DD if he stayed at home, but then it feels like I will always be the earner and I'll miss taking her to school, etc (although few years off yet). I want him to work so I can be at home, but even if he takes the job I'll still have to work as he'll earn less than me. Feeling jealous and feeling guilty and don't know whether to tell him to take the job or that I'll pay the way. I think he'd rather be at home.

This sounds so selfish! Is anyone else in the same/similar situation?

How old is your DD??, maybe it wouldnt do any harm him taking the job. I would imagine the extra cash would be welcome. It may allow you do take DD out and have some 1 to 1 time with her that you may not feel you get atm??

i work and DP is at home...........but i get the quality time. i make sure there are things planned for us to do in the evening or at the weekend

I wimped out of going back in a similar situation. Am currently just quietly tying myself in knots about it all. I know that doesn't help - just wanted to say I really do sympathize.

What does he want to do?
As said above, how old is dd?
Could you cut down another day or half day?
How do you feel about organised childcare?

Just the first things I would be thinking on.

Thank you for making me feel like I'm not the only one. We decided that he wouldn't work and I'll stay full-time until we have another one and he'll get a job while I'm on maternity leave so we can see how it will all work out. At least it doesn't feel like I'm stuck working forever. Better start trying!!
