Should I wear my work uniform to the interview (internal position)

I am returning to work this year after being on maternity leave since 2016. I have acquired an interview for next week for a promotion in my job. As it is an internal interview should I wear my work uniform or something smart? It does not say on the email. Should I drop them a line asking or maybe ask my line manager what would be appropriate? Thanks

I’d wear something smart, unless you’re being observed doing the job which you’d wear the uniform for.

I work in NHS and it's definitely not allowed to wear uniform even for internal. May not be all jobs in NHS though.

I would wear something smart and not your uniform. It allows you to start with a clean slate as an external candidate rather than an existing employee. And don’t email to ask it makes you seem uncertain. Trust your judgement and clothes choices and go for it

Good luck

Depends on the job, I too work for the NHS and on 1 occasion I wore my uniform for the interview (informal, internal type promotion) and on another occasion I changed beforehand. Both interviews went fine and were successful.

If in doubt perhaps drop whoever is listed as a contact a message to double check?
