Self-employed but feeling more employed in what's expected of me - AIBU?

I've just started a new job, self-employed and very part-time but I was issued with a contract (doesn't feel right in itself?) and have now discovered I'm supposed to be a bank signatory which was neither flagged up at interview (although putting money into bank was mentioned) nor in the 'contract'. TBQH for the amount of money I'll be earning I'm not sure I want the hassle and probably wouldn't have taken on the role had I known it was part of the job spec. It feels more like the type of thing one would do if a proper employee with rights...

I don’t know about being a bank signatory but it’s normal to have a contract as a freelancer - how else would the working relationship and requirements be defined?

Well the contract was written by the organisation and mentions nothing about being a bank signatory.

Do you have a contract of employment or a contract for services? It's the terms that are important, not the fact it has been issued.

I'm a bank signatory for a business I do self employed bookkeeping for.

What is your concern with being a signatory?

You mention employee rights, these are very limited. If you're talking about annual leave, the hourly rate you negotiated should reflect that you need to cover this.

The concern is that it's just another expectation that wasn't made clear at interview, or in the contract. There are quite a few of them, including the "occasional meetings" that are monthly evening and/or weekend ones (and sometimes two within a month!).

No I'm not at all new to work, although I was a SAHM for a while. However, I'm relatively new to self-employment. My previous (and first) self-employed role was very much on my own terms. Part of the reason for doing home based, self-employed work (rather than being properly employed in an office) was for it to fit around other commitments etc.. but I can already tell it's not panning out like that.
