Thats it really! Just signed up for info on becoming a distributor or a coordinator with bettaware, and i just know that wise mumsnetters will be able to tell me if you really can earn from it or is it just another pile of s*!?

Thanks in advance!

For me it was cr~p for other it is fine and they make money. I thought it would fit in with kids but can only drop of catalogues through the day, pick ups need to be in the evening, so drag round kids or leave with someone. Time when I want to be at home getting dinner and stuff.

Drop off - 1 night or day.
Pick ups - 2 nights.
Drop off orders - 2 nights.

so five sessions for each section, then start again with next couple of streets. can't remember how much my orders came to, but not a lot, I found it ver demoralising picking up lots of empty order forms. But thats my experience, I only lasted for one lot .

Others do a lot better.

We get the catalogue delivered at erratic intervals - each distributor seems to stay for 2 or 3 cycles and then give up.
Either they have made their millions and retired in luxury... or it's cr*p.
I know which I think is more likely!

I did about 7 months as a distributer, and made about £30 a week. Hourly rate worked out really low, but did fit in with school and dp working irregular hours.

I got the best orders from old people and small terraced houses. Big houses with drives and gates generate very few orders and take longer to deliver catalogues to.

As much as i thought then!

It appears easy doesn't it, dropping a few leaflets, but with 4yr old and a pram to push up and down each path is probably hell! It would be ok at the moment whilst i can carry dd2 in carrier, but when she's a bit bigger it'd be a nightmare lugging the pram up and down each path.

Oh well, will keep searching for my way out of returning to proper work! .

I looked at this a few years ago when I was looking at 'work from home' options

I just wasn't keen with the idea of having to knock on peoples doors.

But I am sure it does work for lots of people

In the end I opted for Usborne

I did Kleeneze (same stuff as Betterware) and didn't get on with it either. In principle you can make money from it, but I found it really hard with my lo. I found it quite time consuming delivering the catalogues and collecting them, and then delivering the goods. People were often not in which meant a repeat visit, again in the evenings which clashed with dd's tea and bed.

What about Avon? I hate the stuff but lots of older people love it and you'll often get som established customers.
I did a spell of Red House Books, though they don't do parties any more.
That was ok - even the parties that didn't make money were just getting together with a group of mums - they usually don't mind if your own child tags along. The only ones that were deathly were a few that I did at M&T groups.
Maybe Usborne is similar.
I think Phoenix Trading (greetings cards) is quite successful, too.

Where Bettaware is better than Kleeneze is that Bettaware give you your own patch to go and deliver to; Kleeneze just let you get on with it, which means you're oftren covereing roads that another Kleeneze rep did the day before - resulting in pd off householders who are sick of catalogues and now won't order from anyone.

I did Kleeneze for about 3 months and didn't make much for the above reason. I do Avon now and am doing OK with it - it's not a fortune BUT where it comes in handy is, you deliver goods & collect the cash and there's about 10-14days before you have to pay over the 75% of the cash to Avon. So it's a little like a week's worht of interest free loan sometimes, if you get my drift. Avon also assign you territory to deliver to, and you can hold parties if you want . though to do that you have to buy in some samples as well as enough gin to get the party goers P
d enough to buy lots of stuff And at the risk of sounding like a brainwashed company zombie I do actually buy stuff out of the catalouges for myself sometimes.

Oh, and just to encourage you, I do have things from the Bettaware catalogue as well. And here's some handy hints: print out your own personalised slips to shove in the catalogue bags saying when you'll collect, then (if you like) drop another slip through the door of anyone who hasn't left the castalgue out saying you'll be back tomorrow. If they're not in when you call to deliver goods - and a percentage of custoers are either SAHM or old or disabled so they are home in the afternoon - put a slip through the door asking them to phone you for a delivery time - and then explain nicely that you have LOs and, if they're not home till after kiddy-bedtime, would they mind waiting till Saturday/SUnday afternoon...

I would like to reply if i may, I have been doing Kleeneze for 3 and half years now, obviously those who have tried and failed, have only themselves to blame, i regularly earn between £850-£960 every 4 weeks. This is because i have had the right training, support and encouragement. This business is 85yrs old and has always traded in profit they must be doing something right. Last year they paid out £12million to it's distributors in bonus's and there are only 6,500 distributors who are active meaning place an order every week. If you put that in context there are 160,000 Avon reps who have to get £50 in orders before they earn anything and with Kleeneze we earn 21% of everything + bonous payments. As for those who find it a chore to put out or pick up catalogues how do you think you get paid!!!! I have quite a few team members who earn more than I do, so it's not a case of earning off your team members, i think that unless you have had the right training and support you will never make it work. KLEENEZE DOES WORK I AM PROOF OF THAT IF YOU HAVE FAILED YOU HAVE NOT HAD THE RIGHT TRAINING AND HELP AND I GOT OFF MY BUM AND DID IT. If anyone would like proof of incomes the are readily available unlike so many other work from home businesses. Get back to me if you want to know how it works properly!!!!!
