DD3 starts school fulltime in Jan and I have been looking for work. I had hoped to get something like teaching assistant work which would be termtime but have not even got an interview for any of the jobs I have applied for as they are so hotly contested around here and I don't have any relevant work experience although I have done an awful lot of parent-helper type stuff and am a governor at my children's school. So I applied for a job that I am well-qualified for with a local charity and I got a letter today saying I've been shortlisted for interview.
The job sounds really interesting, after six years at home I am really keen to get out into the workplace again, but it is full-time. There are 27 days holiday and I think I could arrange the hours so I could pick the children up from school one day a week. The office is 10 mins walk from my house and about 5min from school. DH works from home and could also arrange to finish early one day a week. We could cover about half the school holidays between us.
So we would need to find childcare for:
3 afternoons a week 3.15-5.30.
All day for part of the school holidays.
I'm fine about the after school stuff but I find I hate the idea of not being able to spend all the school holidays with them. Anyone able to reassure me, tell me I'm mad, suggest what I should do with them during the holidays or other things I haven't thought of worrying about yet?
Of course I probably won't even get the job...
Just wondering if anyone else is is the same situation and what your feelings are. Thanks if you got to the end of this ramble.
