Person spec - what is QL?

thunderbird69 · 27/07/2015 15:17

I'm looking at applying for a job. One of the items on the person spec is to have experience of using computerised systems, particularly QL. I don't know if I meet that requirements as I've no idea what QL means!

Anyone?

QL is a Sinclair thing but it can't be that as it is bloody ancient!

Could they mean a label maker? Brother QL is a little label maker...

But other than that, I am really sorry, I haven't a clue either.

Maybe it is a trick question... to see who has the nerve to ring and ask what it is!!??

It is within higher education if that makes any difference!

I wondered if it was a generic term or a specific system that they use

Ah! I checked analysis software

solarb.mssl.ucl.ac.uk/SolarB/index_lkh.htm

EIS Quick Look, maybe... but I think you may have to ring and ask.

Sorry.

But good luck Smile

We use a system called QL. It's for housing management.

QL is an access based database. We use it at work - FE, so similar. You have the students details in and the course details and use them to link to create registers. If you have a good understanding of databases created in access you will be fine.

Well I didn't even get offered an interview, so guess I didn't meet the criteria.
