Not in the UK, so no G and T group in school but DD would seem like a candidate, what to do?

DD is 3.8 and is about to go into second year of nursery (we are in France, so "maternelle", which is not really comparable to nursery, more like school in terms of discipline, curriculum, expectations, class sizes etc. am I happy about all of that? Not necessarily, but that's a different thread)

My DD is the youngest in the class, started first year nursery at 2.9yo. As is always the case, there were a few kids almost 11 months older than her (ie she's like an August baby in the UK, but actually born in Dec -- that's how the intake works here;)

So youngest in the class and started with some knowledge of French, but a long way from being fully fluent in French. Cut to her school report; she is top of her class in academic measures (yes, they actually say that here, explicitly), now fluent in French (we knew that would only be a matter of time due to total immersion at school), very creative and "a leader amongst her peer group".

Background: skipping a year is common in France (as is redoing a year if student is deemed to be failing) School is suggesting she skip a year after this year, ie do one more year of nursery then skip to equi of Year One, not bother with Reception. Not keen on that as she will be very, very young versus class mates............

Any ideas how to support her, keep her challenged without skipping?
