thanks guys, i am wanting to know how long it will take/will i be in the hospital for? as still wondering what to do with dd (whether to take her or ask my parents to mind her)wondered if anyone on here has had it done, so i know exactly what happens etc?

lilaclotus...yeh it summat like that, they insert a catheter in your artery in groin or arm and inject dye (i think lol) then take x-rays.

I hope it goes well lilsmum. It's a fairly routine investigation, be sure to ask lots of questions if you want to. I'm sure you'll be fine.

trefusis...my mum has just had the 48 hr heart monitor, as she has a leaking valve and a murmur, needless to say her heart didnt really flutter the entire time the monitor was on (sods law!!) and it flutters so bad normally it keeps her awake at night they have said she doesnt need surgery but have changed her beta blockers to a dfferent one and stronger, (being nosy) what is it you are having the monitor for?

thanks once again everyone for the kind messages xx

lilsmum, best of luck from DH and I. I'm back in the UK now and I've lost your email adress

Don't know if you'll read this before you go, but if they are going in through your femoral (thigh) artery you might like to give the old lady garden a quick prune!

hugs, let us know how it went xxxxxxxx

thanks for all the messages

good news is i HAVENT got a narrowed carotid artery afterall (could kill the guy who did the first scan for all the worrying i have done grrr)but i am very very pleased

when i got there, i was just going through to get gowned up and another nurse came up and said they want to do a brain scan too, so ended up having a MRI scan on my brain (which i have to wait for the results).

i am a little worried about that now though as when i was in the scanner, the vascular radiographer said through the speaker that my carotid artery was clear/no prob but then something about my neurologist needing to look at it this afternoon...so i am all bothered about that now ,they said they were doing the brain scan by MRI as it will show up all the blood vessels in the brain (instead of CT scan), and of course i am still suffering with these funny "do's"

but i am ecstatic my neck was clear as was getting worried about the op etc.

thankyou to all on here, you have all been really supportive, and it really means alot xxxxx

lilsmum, that's fantastic news about your neck! Sorry you've got to do more waiting/worrying, but I think you suspected all along that this wouldn't be a quick diagnosis/treatment situation. Take heart in the fact that they are looking into it so fully.

So fingers crossed for next week's results. How great they were able to do the MRI scan there and then instead of having you back for yet another appointment.
