Looks likely I have cancer, hate all the waiting to find out!

I have a cluster of enlarged lymph glands in my groin. I first noticed 2 baked bean sized glands, one either side of my groin, about 5 months ago. Those original 2 have increased in size and are now accompanied by several other glands next to them. They are completely painless, everything I have read points to lymphoma.

I saw the Dr last week and have a blood test booked for today. She mentioned I may need to have a biopsy so she is obviously taking my concerns seriously, which is good.

I am just finding all the waiting frustrating- I waited a week to see the Dr, another week for the blood test, then next week I see the Dr again for the results. If I need a biopsy then I'll get referred, then wait for an appt for that.
I have discovered 2 new glands that have appeared just in the week since I saw the Dr!!

Sorry to rant, just feeling frsutrated and no one to talk to

IF it is (and it might not be), Lymphoma is one of the most curable forms of cancer. Surprised how long it takes to get it sorted, any chance of going private for the initial consultations?

How are you feeling otherwise?

Hi Mumbomama, this must be a scary time for you. I can sympathize,. I had two swollen lymph glands in my neck a while ago . They were swollen for over a year. I had blood test which showed everything was fine , but sixth months later still had the swellings and was having bad night sweats. I had more blood tests and was referred to hospital for a biopsy. When i got to the hospital appointment the doctor there could hardly find the swellings and they had started to go down. I didn't need a biopsy. I felt reassured but a small part of me was still concerned. A few weeks later I was involved in an accident and as a result of that needed to have a MRI scan of my neck. This didn't show anything other than the injuries from my accident. The lymph glands were totally fine. What I am trying to say is please don't assume it must be cancer.Swollen lymph glands can be caused by other things such as infections. In my case i had had flu about six weeks before mine swelled up and it seems to have been a response to that.

Oh and please don't google anything, there is no point until you know what is wrong as Kingprawn says there are many reasons why this happens

Thank you so much for your replies.

To be honest, I'm not really too worried. It is just frustrating having all the waiting.

Have just returned from my blood test and the nurse did say that if anything shows up the Dr will call me.

Just have to wait and see. I know you can't diagnose yourself by the internet, but when you are faced with weeks of waiting it's hard not to search for info.

I have no other symptoms, no pain and feel absolutely fine in myself, just a bit lumpy

Just to add PLEASE don't google. I have just been through a concern about cancer. I was referred to the rapdid access clinic for a suspected skin cancer and googled and googled till I convinced myself it was something awful and it wasn't it at all. I too found the waiting the most difficult part - I think that's what made me keep googling because I was so frustrated and couldn't think of what else to do.

Post on here again rather than google and please don't think it's definitely cancer -there are many many things that we don't know about which can cause these problems.
