Poor cirulation in 22 month old?? Bluish lower arms. Worried

I have noticed that occasionally ds2's lower arms get a bluish/purplish tinge to them - usually from about half way between the wrist and elbow, to the tips of his fingers. Nursery commented on it once. I was not too bothered, but have now made an appointment for the doc next week for him as it happened again at the weekend and he was in the bath of all places. He looked very pale, but his arms went this funny colour and it was VERY noticeable. Scared the living daylights out of me.
I am now worrying that he has a heart/circulation problem. Anyone else's get this?

dd's does this when she has a bit of a fever, it balances out when her temperature goes back to normal.

Thanks chuffed. On the weekend when ds2 was in the bath he was shivering too when his arms went blue. He was rather distressed. The contrast of white and purple was scary. He was very clingy, so perhaps he had a little fever? He was fine by Saturday morning.

... Btw.... it was a nice warm bath - I'd not stuck him in it cold ... in case you were wondering about the shivering!

when you get cold the body will keep blood etc in main organ area so other extemities get cold/purple. my legs/arms always go purply when the temp drops slightly.
