A few weeks ago I began to get a dull ache around the entrance to my Vagina, on the right side.
It got a little worse and I began to feel something achey deep in my vaginal wall that spread down my leg.

I noticed that (sorry tmi!!!) if i squatted down, there was a swelling on the right side of my vaginal opening, almost like something deep inside that was causing my wall to swell out! Its so hard to explain.

Anyway, it is causing me a lot of pain today, ive had a look and I can feel a lump now, about the size of a grape. Its deep in the tissue of my vaginal wall. Ive googled it and I think it may be the Bartholin gland. The lump is not on the outside, it is definately beneath the skin and tissues and Im in mad panic mode now!!!
Help!

If it's very painful go to A&E- you should get ABs to treat this, or they can be lanced, worst case.
If you are not in agony, go see your GP asap.
They are quite common, but you need the right treatment to stop recurrance.

Its not a cyst on the outside, its a swelling inside thats causing swelling on the outside...IYSWIM!!!

My mum said go to a&e but its def a gp thing, I think.

Just wanted to know if anyone had any experience...

If the gland is blocked then the swelling will be inside- as the fluid cannot escape.

I have not had one but know someone who did and they explained in graphic detail.

Thanks Purple...So what happens?
Please give me some graphic detail!!!!

How do I know its not cancer and what will the gp do to test/confirm cyst etc...

I actually feel sick Im so worried...and im usually so laid back about things!!

Calm....
cancer of the vagina is so rare it hardly exists.

Your B Gland is a gland that produces secretions to keep all moist and healthy.

If it is blocked for any reason, then the fluids build up.

The person I knew said she had a lump the size of an egg. Hers came back several times and she was told it should have been treated by doing something radical- just a drs' surgery thing I think-and she had some kind of treatment like that. She also had anti biotics and i think that is what you need too.

The only other thing it could be is a prolapse of your vaginal wall- is it at the front- below your pubic bone, or at the back nearer your bum?

However, prolapses do not really give pain- you would just feel "heavy".
HTH.

Hi, just an update!
I went to GP Monday and she diagnosed Bartholins cyst, gave me a huge amount of antibiotics and told me to go to A&E if it got any bigger/painful in the next 24hours.
Well it has...im in agony! I called the hospital and they have advised me to go down.
That will be difficult though as no one to come with me or watch DD tonight.

Anyone ever had one of these and how painful does it get before I should do something?
Work isnt helping, Im a TA in a reception class and moving around everywhere...oh its rubbish being a woman
