Hi, I am in my fourth week of this also. I thought I was over it but it all started again, with the sore throat, earache, horrible cough and aching all over. I feel dreadful. I find gargling with salt water helps ease my throat a little. Other than that I am just keeping warm and doing as little as possible. Hope you feel better soon.

Gargle with soluble aspirin (then swallow it).

This acts as a local anaesthetic and will help the pain.

4 weeks?????

I got up today with aching raw throat and my nose feels twice it's normal size. My arms and legs feel like they're going to fall off...

I'm working 6 days out of the next 7 and don't have time to be ill!

Please tell me it isn't going to last that long!

get some fresh ginger, grate, squeeze out a bout a teaspoon of "ginger juice". Mix with one or two teaspoons o honey - it tastes very strong but after a couple of days your cough will be gone - try it it really works.

Hope you're feeling better soon.

xx

Loopy Lou - I have had the sore throat and terrible, terrible aches and pains since the 29th. Thank God the aches have gone now, cos I was starting to think I had flu but I am now left with a razor blade throat. I was thinking of going to the doctors tomorrow.

I had a sore throat a couple of months back that wouldn't clear up with antibiotics. I started taking those one a day Garlic Capsules and it dissappeared almost immediatley. May be worth a try.

I have had a sore throat on an off for the last 5 weeks. At first I had a chest infection with a sore throat. Anti Bs got rid of the chest infection but not the sore throat. I found the pain from the sore throat unbearable at times. I even gargled TCP (Diluted of course) which usually helps but didn't.

The only time my throat got any relief was when I took the 3-1 cold remedy stuff that you drink.

What is the killer is you think the sore throat has finally got, only for it to return days later...

Hope your goes soon.

I haven't gone to the docs as I have woken up with s and d. I haven't eaten properly for days now and when I even try to sip a drink it comes straight back out (far too much info - sorry) Don't think I'm gonna get better if I can't eat.

If you can take honey - a spoonful now and again will give you relief from the sore throat. Manuka honey is especially good - it is a natural antibiotic, but it is quite expensive. Ordinary honey is fine. I use it quite a bit if the DDs get a sore throat or if I get one myself. Hope you feel better soon.

I gargle with warm water and tea tree oil. It's antiseptic, anti viral, pain reliever and anti bacterial.

Wish you luck!

My friend told me to buy some Difflam. It works wonders! I went and got it yesterday from Asda's and you gargle with it. It helps with the sore throat and has certainly made mine feel better already!

I have something a bit similar - on Christmas Day I woke up (and woke everyone else) at 6am by having to be sick and then felt rubbish the rest of the day. Really tired, achy, throat like razors and not able to eat much at all. Slept most of Boxing Day, was mainly better except sore throat on 27th. Now back to normal although I also have some bit of throat that hurts when I swallow. Was starting to wonder if I had some weird thing too.

at the risk of sounding a complete nut job, if the pain was caused by anything serious ibuprofen wouldnt help would they?

I've had this all xmas after I had a healthy week after 6 weeks of an annoying cough.

After 2 weeks I went to the doctor and got some antibiotics as it wasn't getting any better - one day it seemed to be going the next it was back full force.

Been living on hot water with honey and lemon as it really soothes.

Hope you feel better soon.
