Could this be a pulled muscle???

This evening I've had a really odd pain in my stomach- just above/around my belly button. Hurts most when I breath out/push my stomach out, and when I cough/sneeze.

I was lugging a huge rucksack on and off a bus this evening, while pushing a pushchair with travel cot balanced on top of it.......could I have pulled a muscle/strained on in my stomach doing that???

Yes. You can pull a muscle by opening a door if you yank it in the wrong way. It does sound like a pulled muscle but I would be tempted to go to the GP to check if this was me as there is another thing that can cause this type of pain that should be ruled out.

really - I@m always yanking doors the wrong way - not sure I@m going to get a chance to go to the GP any time soon (unless I@m on my death bed ) - . DS2 starts school tomorrow, but he's mornings only at the moment, so my days all brokem up with 3 trips to school(s) a day

Can you see your stomach pulsating when you lie down (bear with me here)?

I pull muscles all the time. It's a sudden movement or jolt that does it. It normally takes a few days for it to feel better. Deep heat helps, ibuprofen aswell.

Check for the pulsating tummy though.

sorry - took a bit longer than expected - had trouble getting up again without it hurting too much.

I'm not sure - I can see my stomach moving a little, but I'm not sure whether that was just the movement as I breath in and out or whtether it was pulsating

It's ok. It sounds like a pulled muscle. Ibuprofen and deep heat. Rest as much as you can.

A little movement is fine.

hehe at resting - unfortunately I've just had my childfree weekend so not much chance of a rest for another 2 weeks

Mind you I never realised until now that I have still have the "split" down the middle of my stomach muscles - (didn't actually realise I had any muscles there to speak of at all )

You have muscles everywhere. Blokes make these into 6 packs .

Just lie back as much as you can get away with, try to avoid any heavy weights (if you can).

A warm bath might help. I bruised some muscles in my back falling down the stairs, my neighbour recommended arnica tablets. They worked very well.

hmm - avoiding heavy weights may be tricky too - especially as DS3 is only 15 months and going to be lost without either of his brothers at home this week.

May try a bath tomorrow night if it's no better - too late to have one now - I need sleep (if I can lie down comfortably that is lol).

I know I have muscles all over, just never managed to pull one in my stomach before (despite frequently lifting heavy weights........ooooo just remembered as well as lugging that big heavy rucksack around on the bus I carried 3 heavy boxes of books upstairs just before I went out - ooops)

Thanks

It's OK. go and see the GP if it's no better in a couple of days or if you are concerned (or if you see it pulsating).

Goodnight.
