Hi mamadiva. I quit last Monday but had one fag last night, so I'm back to square one. I'll join you if I may

I want to join in - I think. I'm on holiday in a couple of weeks for my 40th birthday and have vowed to myself that at 40 I would stop. Moral support would be much appreciated!

Fantastic hello! Well done to all of you for deciding to quit just need somewhere I can chat through cravings LOL.

I stopped smoking in 2005 when I found out I was pregnant then started again in March of this years o hopefully won't be too bad this time.

It's been 17 hours since my last fag, am not using oatches etc because I think that would prolong the cravings.

I also quit in 2005 when pg but then when DS was 6 weeks old I dropped him and immediately went out and bought a packet of fags. The time is right for me to quit now because I would like to start ttc in the next six months or so

Oh and am also not using patches. Tis very expensive and quite right, they do just prolong the agony

Can I join in readiness. I am planning to quit on 8th October, (day after my birthday)
I quit 5 years ago and started again earlier this year in a stressful time.
Last time I gave up with reasons( turning 30 ,wanting TTC, new job) and I never got past the but I can always have one if I want.

This time I am quitting because I want not to smoke and no other reason. Hopefully not having reasons for giving up for , which I can go back on I will kick the habit forever.

Last time I went cold turkey and it was ok, just drank a glass of water everytime I wanted a fag.
But now you can get 6 weeks of nicotine patches for one prescription price from the chemist, so might give it a whirl

Good luck to all, And will be back to join you in a month

I gave up with help of hypnotherapy was the only thing that did work, however I do think this is a good time of year to quit as the weather is not condusive to sitting outside smoking, that helped as well.

How is everyone today? You all ready to give up those nasty nicotine sticks?

This morning was tough I really want a fag with my cup of tea , you wouldn't think I was 21 would you LOL. I spent about half an hour coughing up gumf(technical term of course), excuse the foulness of that just a warning, apparently it's the crap in your lungs starting to break up and come out. Euck that was in my lungs.

Good Luck all of you who are quitting today! Oh and I'm taking my DS swimming today with the money I normally spend on fags! So much better knowing I can do something fun with him rather than buy fags!

I don't smoke, but had hypnotherapy for something else & my hypnotherapist told me something interesting.

He said, that the 'relaxing' feeling that you get from a cigarette isn't acually from the cigarette. It is the action of inhaling deeply that relaxes you. So,in theory, you could hold a pen in your hand, for something to fiddle with & take deep breaths & get the same feeling of relaxation.

As,I've said,I've never smoked,so can't say whether this is a load of cobblers or not,but it might help?
