We were at anti natal together and see eachother alot. Poor little girl, has been in a coma for 4 weeks, and when they broughther out of it, my friend said she was so ill she nearly died.

Friend rang today to tell me that her dd is awake now and talking and everything. I just can't imagine what she has been going thru, well it must be so hard as was transferred up to bristop renal unit.

My friend is 34 weeks pg aswell. God i hope to god it turns out good.

God, the poor things. How terrifying. It sounds like a turn for the better if she's talking now though doesn't it?

Well i don't know, but apparently there have been 12 cases in devon in the past few weeks.

I had a google and only got some older news abotu a poor girl who was 8, who actualy died, who had caught it from the beach, not here but further up the coast.

The poor girl, is paralised on one side atm, but it's supposed to be temporary, but she has been very ill.

The poor thing, she must have developed Haemolytic Uraemic Syndrome (HUS), a nasty complication of e-coli infection. It's what Johnny Depp's daughter had when she was at Great Ormond Street.
It can be very serious but usually children do pull through OK. Sometimes they need dialysis for a time and I guess that is why she is at the Renal Unit.
Fingers crossed for her. The only case I know of in RL was a Mner's dd and she is now as fit as a fiddle. Her mum was pg at the time too.

this is weird, i was told that her dd became ill the week after fair week, and i just looked at some of the causes of e coli, and undercooked beef (as in hamburgers) is a big culprit. It also says the symptoms show after about 7 days.
